(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Almog, the ex-commanding officer of the "Israeli" occupation forces' southern command was invited to a fundraising event in London later during this month [June]. However, senior occupation officials advised him to cancel his trip to avoid a potential arrest.
Similarly, seven years ago, the senior "Israeli" officer was warned that a British judge issued an arrest warrant on his behalf as his plane landed in Heathrow Airport. In this case, Almog decided not to leave his plane, and head back to the occupied territories.
Although the British government amended the procedures into the law of universal jurisdictions, in order to prevent these arrests, Zionist officials told Almog that "they cannot guarantee that a warrant will not be issued for his arrest."
Along with other officers, Almog is accused of committing war crimes in Gaza during the 2008-2009 Operation Cast Lead; issuing an order to bombard to the ground 59 residential houses in Gaza' Rafah. The said order is an act of collective punishment, which is prohibited in international law.
Also, before the Gaza aggression, Almog was also responsible for ordering a one-ton-bomb on a Gazan house, located in a densely populated area, targeting Salah Shehadi. As a result of this attack, fifteen Palestinian civilians were killed, including nine children, while 150 were injured.
